SinfoniaNord

SinfoniaNord is a subsidiary project of The North Iceland Symphonic Orchestra.

The project’s aim is to create further job opportunities for the North Iceland Symphonic Orchestra musicians. It’s assignments include the recording of international film scores at Hof as well as offering orchestral services to a third party. The conditions and recording gadgetry at Hof are world class and the phenomenal acoustics at Hamraborg do it no disservice.

The project has been operating since 2015 and has already recorded music for Netflix, BBC, Sony and the History Channel, to name a few. It’s been hired by a third party for projects like Lord of the Rings, where all three film were screened accompanied by 230 musicians playing the score live and musicals such as Phantom of the Opera and War of the Worlds, as well as for accompaniment at concerts of musicians from different areas of the musical industry. The musical Evita in Eldborg on November 15th 2019 is an example of such a project where musicians of NISO were hired in.

SinfoniaNord received the Innovation Award of Akureyri in 2017 along with Atli Örvarsson and was chosen as the enterprise project of Eyþing 2018.
